Wine Tasting

coming Sunday March 2nd

from 2-4pm

We're excited to announce that our Monthly Tastings will now happen the first SUNDAY of every month from 2-4pm in our humble little bottle shop. The last few months have been really fun bringing new wines to this awesome community and this upcoming tasting will be no exception. This month we're focusing on the wines of Borba, a Portuguese producer in the Alentejo region. The family estate has been involved in viticulture (growing grapes) for decades but it wasn't until 2000 that they built their own winery and began estate-bottling their own wines. Founded and led by Marcolino Sebo, this is a family endeavor with the younger generation already taking the reins.

One thing I love about Portuguese wine is finding a brand like this that is growing ancient grapes that are indigenous to their land. There's nothing like tasting wines that completely typify a place, by being able to get a deep dive into a culture through a liquid. It's magic.

We'll be tasting their iconic Tinto and Branca (red and white) as well as a Reserva wine they produce, and there's talk by our gracious US ambassador to Borba that a cured Jamon might be making an appearance (think Prosciutto, but made with a local breed of pig from the Alentejo and their specific aging techniques).

So make sure you mark your calendars and stop by this coming Sunday March 2nd from 2-4pm to taste some really cool wines from a lesser-known region!
