Kris Kehr has been called a 'musicians musician', maybe with good reason- he's sat in with performers like Mike Gordon, Vince Welnick, Tom Paxton,Vassar Clements, Jeff Wisor & Tom Contanton, to name a few; he's opened for the likes of Dickie Betts, Bill Monroe, John Hartford & Steve Forbert, plus many, many more, and in the studio he’s worked with such artists as Cindy Cashdollar, Craig Ross, Scott Murawski & Jim Weider.
But most of the 35+ years he's spent traveling, writing, living music, he's mostly performed as a soloist. His songbook is deep, filled with gems old & new, covered or original.
…And his instruments- he's knowned to have brought any of his 6 & 12 string guitars, mandolins (standard & baritone), harmonica, resonators, electric slide, electric & upright bass…aside from the banjos, autoharps & dulcimers of this world.
His style is steeped in the traditions of the 1st & 2nd gen pickers (Tony Rice, Doc watson) as well as the interpreters (Jerry Garcia, Bob Dylan, Neil Young) that covers bluegrass, rock, country blues & jazz, but also brings something all his own to the table.
